The Monstrous Nightmare was hatched ten years before the Ice Age began. The other animals began to leave the area so they could avoid being trapped in the Ice Age. When the Ice Age hit all of the animals that couldn't survive the cold weather left; but the Monstrous Nightmare doesn't abandon a good fishing location. One night a freak ice storm rolled in freezing everything in its path that included the Monstrous Nightmare. After the storm was over everything that it touched was now frozen in a block of ice.
